June Mashup

June has been a full and fun month. We started the month by having a birthday party for Ella. She chose to have a slumber party this year. The girls had a great time and we are so thankful for such a wonderful group of friends for Ella. They ordered sushi, watched “Miracle Season”, played fishbowl, and stayed up late singing songs from “Beauty and the Beast”. The boys were the servers for the party. Peter took his job quite seriously and even got dressed in a white dress shirt. In the morning we served the girls a crepe breakfast.

The next week Ella officially turned 13. We celebrated her at our Bible study. What a joy it is to have a teenager in our home.

We have enjoyed warm weather near the end of the month and have been getting good use out of our paddle board. In mid-June we went to family church camp and Camp Luther. It was a blast. We also celebrated Father’s day.

Next up was Karis’ bday. She is now 10 and continues to be full of joy and giggles. She is pleased with her typewriter gift. We are celebrating her birthday in early July with a party at the waterslides.

And to end the month Spencer and I celebrated our birthdays. The kids made us a delicious waffle breakfast. This year, they even bought the groceries for the waffles. Our girls have 2 paper routes and have been doing some babysitting so they have been earning their own money. They also bought us some gifts and made breakfast while we did our morning devotionals in the backyard. It was rather delightful. We even got to go into Vancouver for a date night and had our girls babysit. It’s a whole new phase of life.

We have thought about putting our boys into hockey camps this summer, but after looking at the cost, etc, we decided that Dadda will be running the hockey camp. Included in the gallery below is a picture of one of this week’s training days. They have been working hard doing drills with Dadda on their rollerblades. They will do a skating camp at the end of August. The boys plan to play in the Christian hockey league again this year.

Earlier this month we also had a piano recital. Videos are included below :)

June marked the end of our year of homeschooling. It was a beautiful year of learning. Our best yet. Next up, are grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 8. Wahoo!
